Delivery method: Instructor-led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured hands-on activities.

Benefits: Students will learn how to install and configure the Windows 2000 network components. These components include the DHCP, DNS, WINS, and RAS services. In addition, you’ll learn how to secure, manage, and troubleshoot your Windows 2000 network.

Target student: Students enrolling in this course should understand networking concepts. In addition, you should know how to install and administer a Windows 2000 network.

Performance-based objectives

Lesson objectives help students become comfortable with the course, and also provide a means to evaluate learning. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• Identify the components of the Windows 2000 network infrastructure.

• Install, configure, and maintain a DHCP server.

• Design, install, and configure a DNS server for host name resolution.

• Implement a WINS server for NetBIOS name resolution.

• Install and configure a RAS server to support dial-up and Virtual Private Networking connections.

• Design and implement RAS security and RAS policies.

• Configure static, dynamic, and dial-on-demand IP routers.

• Secure the TCP/IP protocol through certificates and IPSec.

• Implement Internet Connection Sharing and an Internet Connection Server (router).

• Configure an Internet Information Server.

• Manage the Windows 2000 network through Terminal Services, Remote Installation Services, and the SNMP protocol.

• Troubleshoot a Windows 2000 network with utilities such as Network Monitor.
